As a class we studied the downtown strip of Ames, Iowa.  Project: To design a hypothetical performing arts center.

Collaboration with: John Gonzalez + Emily Wulf. Below is the process of our study and design.

Site Conceptual Research

Through large, yet simple, gestures, the form of the proposed Performing Arts Center starts to transform and connect the proverbial downtown. Creating an extension of the Ames Cultural District while stitching it within the existing urban fabric of Ames. The existing constraints and considerations within our immediate site and the surrounding area directed our group’s conceptual and formal solutions. Below: Schematic design

Through physical modeling and actual photography of the site we were able to create images to inform new connections that would be made through actual and visual means.
